About the Project
The West Philly Food Sovereignty Project is a community-led planning initiative focused on strengthening the food system in West and Southwest Philadelphia.
The project brings together growers, retailers, educators, residents, and community organizations to identify local food system assets, understand gaps and opportunities, and support the development of a more sustainable and locally rooted food economy.
Our Work Includes
- Mapping food system resources and infrastructure
- Engaging community members and local stakeholders
- Supporting neighborhood food production and distribution
- Strengthening connections between growers, retailers, and residents
- Identifying opportunities for a more circular local food system
This work is intended to help lay the foundation for a long-term, community-informed food system strategy rooted in local knowledge, local relationships, and neighborhood-based solutions.
